Changing Consumer Policies and the Consumer Movement (Subtitle: Implications of the Consumer Basic Act of 2007 and a Future Path for the Consumer Movement in Regional Areas)
The Korea Federation of Housewives' Clubs (KFHC, Chairperson Kim Cheon-ju) plans to hold a forum titled "Changing Consumer Policies and the Consumer Movement" in view of the fact that the Consumer Basic Act is taking effect from March 2007. Representatives of consumer counselling organizations in Seoul and other areas across the country along with government officials from the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Fair Trade Commission will discuss the future path of the consumer movement after the implementation of the Consumer Basic Act at the forum.
With the implementation of the Consumer Basic Act, local governments are expected to improve their administration for consumers; as such, the forum will discuss ways to link local governments' administration for consumers and the activities of consumer groups. Consumers who are interested in the discussion are welcome to join the forum.
